Dopo essersi laureato in ingegneria, ha lavorato 10 anni in industria prima di imparare la professione contabile. Dopo alcuni anni con società di audit internazionali, ha superato gli esami per dottore commercialista et revisore legale.
Raphael parla correntemente inglese e tedesco.
